Linda Catalano presents "Scary Plant"
Inspired by the broadway show "Little Shop of Horrors." It consists of 5 individual paper mache flowers whose centers are eyeballs. Each measures approximately 12" long by 3" wide (30.5 x 7.5 cm, respectively). They're arranged to stand at different heights in their pot but crane forward in unison to create a menacing stare. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25423985 Sylvia Anderson presents
" Little Shop of Horror's Baby Audrey II"
My challenge piece for the Paper Mache Artisans group Broadway
Plays challenge is Baby Audrey II from Little Shop of Horror's. This
original one of a ki
nd piece is sculpted out of Paperclay, painted and given
a clear satin finish. The head and three of the leaves are sculpted, and I
added faux flower petal and leaves to enhance around it's head. I even gave
Audrey some clear drops of dew on the head and leaves so they will glisten
as if from a recent watering! Baby Audrey II is securely mounted in the clay
pot and I added a little sign on the front..."Feed Me!" but beware...we know
what happens when little Audrey II finally gets fed! Baby Audrey II measures
5" tall and 6" at the widest leaf span. The clay pot measures 2.5" and is
signed and dated on the bottom, Sylvia Anderson 2009.http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25423681
Elaine Thomas presents "Cosette"
My Piece was inspired by the Broadway play "Les Misérables" Victor Hugo wrote Les Misérables, between 1848 and 1861, to draw attention to "the degradation of man by poverty, the ruin of woman by hunger, the wasting of the child by night." The work succeeded in drawing attention to the working conditions of women and children. Immediately successful, the novel inspired a stage version, parodies, an American film in 1909, and, more recently, a celebrated musical. I really enjoyed creating Cosette one of the characters featured in this play. She is all hand-sculpted out of paper clay as well as her boat. The sail in made from aged and distress paper and antiqued. This pieces measures 7"inches tall. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25423608
